Tribute from a small country. Many who pass by this page would’ve known Professor Simon longer than I have by any stretch. But in the short 6-7 years or so being under his wing I can only say good things. I owe it to Prof for giving me the opportunity and access to return to the UK to complete my specialist training. It will always be an honour to have trained and worked under you. I realised that you really cared about your patients when you sent each and every one of them copies of a letter explaining your leave of absence and reassurance that they will be cared for by your colleagues. If this is not empathy and compassion distilled then I don’t what is. To add to your legacy, for a small country like Brunei, the four of us who have come to train with you will now make up 80% of the Bruneian orthopaedic consultants. No doubt when it is our turn to train the next generation your imparted wisdom will echo in us. RIP Prof, I will miss you. Hafidz
