I first met Simon in Nottingham in 1989

It was Simon who persuaded me to return to Liverpool in 1998 - a decision that I never regretted

He was an outstanding colleague. He was always there for advice and could always be relied upon for an honest opinion - even if he knew you would not like it!

I don't think that we ever had a cross word in 22 years

We ran many live survey courses together and I have fond memories of sweating over patient selection, stressing over live surgery and laughs in the bar at the end of the day.
